So, to recap the last year... Vyanna Hope was born on March 30, 2012. She has bright orange hair and blue eyes. The #1 question we get? "Where did her hair come from?" Well, since we don't have red hair, the answer is - recessive genes. The longer answer is that Ryan's uncles on the Warkentin side have red hair. And that Ryan's facial hair is reddish. And I have the indications of carrying a recessive red gene in the highlights in my hair and my freckles. My Grandma Myers has a relative that has red hair, but that's all I know about from my side.
Vyanna has a big personality (firey redhead?) and she will be giving her sister and brother a run for their money. She already likes to tease and is a big momma's girl.
Cassia is in Grade 1 and doing really well. I cannot believe how well she is reading. I don't have experience with how first graders read, but she amazes me.
Easton has been home with me this year of my parental leave. He loves being home, helping me bake and bugging his little sister. However, he eagerly awaits Cassia's return from school so that he has someone to play with.
Ryan is in his second year at an inner city school as the Physical Education Teacher. He is finding more of a groove and continuing to find ways to address the challenges there.
I have been a stay at home mom for the last year, on parental leave. I am very glad for the opportunity to stay home with my kids for their first year. It has been very challenging, with little adult interaction throughout the day, but there are so many things that I will miss when I return to working outside the home. The one thing I'm looking forward to, in returning to work, is that people may actually respond to what I say the first time I say it instead of the 10th. Doesn't matter if they do what I would like or respond how I would like, but actually acknowledging that I have said something.
Here are a bunch of pictures over the last year:
My three kiddos.
Mimi stayed with us for three weeks to help out when Vy was born.
Pawpaw came to visit later.
4 weeks old
One month old
Ryan ran in the Manitoba Marathon. He completed the 1/2 marathon and we were all very proud of him! The new Bomber stadium is being built in the background.
Cassia graduated from Kindergarten.
Vyanna loved her new bed, which helped keep her inclined and helped her reflux.
Great-Grandma Myers
Vy's first plane ride!
I think I'll need a couple more update posts...
